The Fall Winter 2020 collection introduces a new era for Maison SMALTO, combining its Mas- ter tailor savoir-faire with a Parisian vision of the masculine wardrobe in an urban modernity.
Maison SMALTO, in its French tradition, has always had a very strong link with the Cinema. The New Wave movement and 60s Paris was the starting point of his new collection.
This new influence transposes the codes of the historic brand in contemporary Paris, the one that dares to associate formal, casual and sport to create a silhouette distinctive of the Parisian crea- tive freedom.
When formal merges with athleticism, the name SMALTO is weaved in tennis stripes on cargo trou- sers, the iconic jacket is combined with a super 100s wool jogging pant, a waistcoat worn on bare skin slips under the pointed collar tuxedo jacket, patterned shirt combined with a turtleneck pullover, the t-shirt slips under a leather riding jacket, wedged boots suiting the Parisian pavement, the same way sneakers do.
Grey, white and black are references to a universal and timeless Paris and settles a new bases of the SMALTO wardrobe, softened with touches of beige and camel, still blue is one of SMALTO’s funda- mental colours.
This season is a turning point for the Maison SMALTO, drawing attention to new talents on the French menswear scene.
Hence the reason why Maison Smalto invited designer Louis Gabriel Nouchi to collaborate on the F/W 20 collection, highlighting the Maison’s savoir-faire and their common vision on the Parisian modernity.
This collaboration sees a capsule collection of a dozen looks, revisiting the proportions of the ico- nic brand’s tailoring and playing with its codes: the lapis-lazuli motifs, red carnation…
The shapes and lengths of this collection with a minimalist aesthetic interacts with the innovative mind of Mr. Francesco Smalto.
The capsule collection will be exhibited on Januray 16th from 4pm to 7pm, together with and in the same location than the FW20 Smalto collection and in showroom, 2 rue Bassano, in the Maison’s headquarter, from January 2Oth to February 7th.
In February 1962, Francesco Smalto founded the Maison in Paris, based on his expertise as a Master Tailor. Francesco Smalto’s ready-to-wear was praised by the art and entertainment celebri- ties, he revolutionized the men’s wardrobe and its vocabulary thanks to the first signed and adjusted suit cuts; assertive shoulder lines, “Parisian” notched lapels and hand-stitched finishes which de- fine the SMALTO silhouette, from tennis striped suits to the white tuxedo.
The House of SMALTO has become a Luxury French menswear reference from which the ready-to- wear is the legitimate heir to a rare savoir-faire.
Smalto, a filiation story.
