May-Linda Kosumovic, a Canadian-born actress, began her acting journey at a young age when her parents chose to return to their native Kosovo, where she then graduated from the Academy of Arts in Prishtina in 2014.
A pivotal moment in Kosumovic’s career came when she landed a prominent role in the HBO Europe original series “Welcome to Utmark,” directed by the esteemed Icelandic filmmaker Dagur Kári in 2021. This opportunity provided a platform for her skills to unravel and introduced her to a broader audience. Following her involvement in this series, Kosumovic caught the attention of industry professionals and has secured one of the leading roles in an upcoming international project, which is set to premiere in the near future.
Utopian Magazine: What turns you on creatively, spiritually and emotionally?
May-Linda Kosumovic: Besides acting, I also like to write. I observe daily occasions, jot them down on paper and create a story or integrate them into a story I’ve already written.
I make use of these ideas for acting scenes as well, I use details that impressed me and try to fit them into a theatre play or a movie scene if possible.
What turns you off in general?
Double standards.
What is the meaning of a good life?
Being healthy overall, mentally and physically. Lately, that’s what I truly believe in Periodtt.
What is happiness?

Embracing failure.
Are you ready to fight for a cause?
I always have been, especially when it comes to causes that are related to social stigmatization and discrimination against minority groups.
Do you want to keep inventing yourself?
As an actress, I think it’s fundamental.
It’s often the work of immensely difficult and profound roles or playing in circumstances that are outside our boudaries that sets us towards creating our own craft.
Playing it safe and being reluctant to come out of our comfort zone will definitely provide difficulty down the road.
