Mauro Polticchia, International Sommelier (Napa Valley Wine Expert, Culture&Business French Wines Certified, International Bordeaux Wine Educator, French Wine Scholar Certification, Italian Sommelier)… it’s show vibrations time!
It’s time to have a middle-long term vision to obtain a really disruptive growth.
2020 global situation it was a tsunami in wine sector also.
Did you have not an impact? Please…
In the last 2 years, during tastings, speeches and interviews, I shared a new concept of teaching: wine is the perfect combination of all human senses. Audiences are often surprised… due to approaching wine to hearing and therefore to sound, it’s a visionary and utopian mindset.
An interesting personal experience that sustains the link between wine and sound vibrations was taking during an examination to obtain one of my International Certification of Sommelier… Few people are aware of it, but I can guarantee that it has led certain areas of the brain to react exponentially, ensuring greater mental agility, proven by scientific instruments!
Neuroscientist Gordon Shepherd, in his illuminating 2016 book “Neuroenology: How the Brain Creates the Taste of Wine” recalls that the approach to wine stimulates most of our senses. It’s also important to remember the study conducted by Professor Adrian North of the Department of Psychology of the Heriot-Watt University of Edinburgh that underlines the close correlation between tasting and listening.
We always have to remember that quality wine is an alive and delicate product that has the great ability to stimulate all the senses, generating memories and emotions: smell, sight, taste, hearing… In fact, total sensorial perception is the real secret: you appreciate taste, you judge perfume, you observe color, you listen to perlage… but not only that!
Music is a universal language that generates strong emotions… like an excellent wine, both go with the history of man.
Many superb composers, from Mozart to Verdi, from Donizetti to Rossini remember wine as a celebration, an amazing enjoying moment, sharing, suitable to arouse twists and turns, emotion. Wine has been understood as an exaltation of life and passions for a long time.
The relationship between music and wine goes even deeper.
Birth, growth, maturity. It is precisely in the maturity of wine that music affects its definitive character, did you not imagine it?
There’re techniques, within the process of creating wine, that determine proven organoleptic improvements. Some very specific melodies based on perfect frequencies cause the molecules of wine to react increasing the aromatic structure, it’s a precise moment in which the wine assumes an optimal physical-chemical state before bottling and its subsequent evolution.
This is a true Faith supported by solid scientific foundations. There’re few Masters who use this fabulous procedure… they know very well it…
